『8時だョ!全員集合』で一世を風靡。ドラマ『踊る大捜査線』（フジテレビ系）のベテラン刑事・和久平八郎の渋い演技には、痺れたなぁ・・・。
いま生きておられたら、この日本を見て何て言うのかなぁ・・・。

若い人達にとってのいかりや長介さんは、1997年に放映されたドラマ『踊る大捜査線』（フジテレビ系）のベテラン刑事・和久平八郎役だろう。しかし、昭和30年代生まれの我々にとってのいかりや長介さんは、『８時だョ！全員集合』の、下唇べろんちょであり、ダミ声のリーダーであるのだ。


そのドリフターズのリーダーであったことの苦悩について、自著「だめだこりゃ」（新潮文庫）で、こんな風に語っておられる。その内容が、ベテラン刑事・和久平八郎のセリフのように、なかなか味わい深い。いまの日本のリーダー達は、心して聞くべきだ。


『ドリフを始めたときは、誰一人として、まさかドリフの名前を墓場にまで持っていくことになるとはおもわなかったはずだ。
すべては成り行きだった。偶然だった。誰一人、ずば抜けた才能を持つメンバーはいなかった。他人を蹴落としてまで芸能界で生き抜いていこう、という根性の持ち主もいなかった。テレビに出始めた頃に「クレイジーキャッツみたいになろう」とおもったくらいで、確固たる目標すらなかった。
ドリフターという言葉を英語の辞書でひけば、流れ者とか漂流物と書いてある。私たちは名前通り、漂流物のように潮の流れるままに流されてきたのだとおもう』


『私は長男で、上に相談に乗ってくれる兄弟はいなかった。なぜかわからないけれど、いつも私が何かを決定しなければならない立場に立たされてきた。静岡でのバンドのときもそうだった。ジミー時田のところにいたときも、リーダーではなかったのに、そういう立場になってしまった。外部との交渉係・渉外担当。何かの決定役はいつも私だった』


１９６９年に始まった「８時だョ！全員集合」。その番組の中で、いかりや長介さんは、他の4人とは、いつも異質だった。いかりや長介さんが、先生なら、他の4人は、生徒。隊長なら、他の4人は、兵士。社長なら、他の4人は、社員・・・。そして、いつもガミガミと、ダミ声で怒っている。見方を変えると、他の4人に、いじめられている。「権力」に対して、弱い方の4人が、逆転して攻めていくところに、子供ながらにカタルシスがあった。

ドリフターズ＝漂流する者達の、行き着いた先は、いかりや長介さんの捨て身の構造だったのだ。リーダーと他の4人という構造を、覚悟を持って引き受ける・・・その構造のままを、笑いと昇華させていく。それも、「８時だョ！全員集合」は、ナマ番組である。撮り直しが利かない。


『「いかりやは、作家の台本をまるで採用しない」「ディレクターを信用しない」「全部一人でやりたがる独裁者」「鬼だ、蛇だ」「金をかすめとってんじゃねえか？」という風評が立った。何をかいわんや、である。私はいつでもネタに追われていた。追いまくられていた。ゼエゼエいっていた。フーフーいっていた。ネタを書き、舞台にのせるまでつくりあげる作業を他人にやってもらえるなら、こんなに楽なことはない。


だが、作家の書いてくる本、ディレクターのつける演出は、それぞれよく考えられてはいたが、やはり「頭で」考えられたものにすぎない場合が多く、そのまま客の前にかけられるものではなかった。だからどうしても、一度分解し、再構築する作業が必要になったのだ。
我々、演じ手は失敗すると次の日から街を歩けなくなる恐怖が常にあった。「ウケないかもしれないけどやるだけやってみようよ」というようなネタではダメなのだ。一度こっきりの生本番なのだ。「この次」がないのだ。裏方と演じ手の危機感の違いがそこにあったのだと思う』


この言葉を、日本の政治家であるリーダー達は、どう聞くのだろうか？
放送作家から上がってくる「頭」で考えたネタを、現場で、徹底的に自らが再構築する。
そして、ぶっつけ本番のナマ収録へと挑む。それを何十年もだ・・・。
官僚から出てくる原稿を棒読みする日本のリーダーに、この気概はない。

『テレビの消化力の強さを、テレビ局の人間も気づいていなかったとおもう。同じネタでも、違う局の番組でやれば、その局のスタッフははじめて見るネタだか ら、彼らにはウケるのだ。芸人は「あ、まだウケる」とおもってしまう。芸人は同じネタでいい、局の視聴率稼げるからありがたい、お互いに「これはおいしいぞ」とおもっていただろう。ところが、見る側からすれば、チャンネルが４でも６でも８でも１０でも同じこと、「あ、また同じネタだ」となるだけだ』

お笑いをやりながら、テレビの消化力の早さを、誰よりも早く気づき、怖れたから・・・
新しいネタにこだわり続けた。
それを実行するために、嫌な役も引き受けて、リーダーであり続けたのだ。

お笑いも、政治も、テレビに映し出された時点で、消費される。
そして、構造として、「権力」は、叩かれる側にまわる。
マスコミや大衆は・・・・「８時だョ！全員集合」が、そうであったように・・・
リーダー＝権力をいじりたいと願う。
ナマの方に、真実を見ようとする。
その中で、リーダーは、どうあるべきか。
いかりや長介さんの人生のほとんどは、その問いの答えを出すことに費やされたのだ。
どんなに嫌われようとも、お茶の間の子供達を、裏切らないっ。手を抜かないっ。
その真摯な姿勢こそ、身体を張ったリーダーの姿ではないだろうか。

官僚の言葉を、自分の言葉に換える再構築の手続きをやってないから、失言する。
一貫していないと言われる。その揚げ足をとるマスコミや大衆に対して、憎悪する姿をさらす。
悪者になれない。
いじられたらすねる。
ナマの怖さがわかっていない。
そんな姿を見たら、いかりや長介さんなら、きっとこういうね・・・
「だめだこりゃ」。



「８時だョ！全員集合」のコントの中で、
いつも、いかりや長介さんは、最後にやりこめられていたが・・・・
見ている子供達は、いかりや長介さんにふりかかる災難に対して、
「うしろ！うしろ！」なんて、愛を込めて注意をしてくれていた。



お笑いの世界でも、
政治の政界でも、
それが企業であっても、
みんなから見られているリーダーは、消費される。
その怖さを、「権力＝ポジション」だけではね除けようとするリーダーに、
「うしろ！うしろ！」なんて、愛を込めた大衆の声は、届かない。



一週間後の3月20日は、いかりや長介さんの命日である。
亡くなってから、もう５年にもなる。
私は、リーダー・いかりや長介を、子供の頃から敬愛する。合掌。
